Dan - enjoyed your thoughts here. Going through a transition phase in my life as I retire from the Navy and plan for the future. In my mid-40s now and for me the big hill is physical fitness. I really want to lose some weight and get back into fighting shape! It is going to be a focus of my time post retirement but I am struggling with the motivation piece. Somedays it is there and others it isn't. Appreciate your insights.

Matthew, I also struggle with finding that drive. There is a very delicate recipe for motivation, and sometimes you're just missing one or two crucial ingredients. I still haven't figured out how to pull motivation out of thin air, but I do know that I find it present in my life during those times when I'm craving intense change. However, getting yourself to that point is the real challenge. There are a lot of things I want, but I haven't reached that point where I'm willing to make those life-altering changes to achieve them.

But taking that first step towards your quest for physical fitness will definitely go a long way in getting you there! Best of luck to you. You've got this!
